In his own words: First and foremost, let me introduce myself...My name is ***** aka Mushuto. I currently reside in Austin, Texas, and have done so for the past 8 years...I enjoy windy walks on Town Lake, watching APD chase "cluckers" through my backyard, producing electronic music, and watching Japanese splatter films without subtitles (due to the fact that most dialogue in such films is meaningless, kinda' like a Woody Allen film). All that aside, I am starting this "blog" to cure the boredom that plagues me day to day, and also to somewhat plug my production work and whatever else that might come about. As I said prior, I produce "electronic" music, spanning various genres, from drum and bass to trance, glitch/IDM, gabber, and trip-hop....I stated 8 years ago, mainly performing and producing "big-beat" tracks, which I had some success with two tracks that I released over in Germany, "With Regards, Leland", and "Freezerburn", both of which were picked up by Raw 42 Music UK for TV/Film licensing. From that point on I started producing under the name "Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor", concentrating on "industrial/ambient/gabber".... The majority of tracks that I produced under Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor were never released or even previewed by anyone for that matter, and not due to "embarrassment" but due to other situations that caused life to go into left-field.... While in left-field, production came to a halt, and had to mainly focus on real-life (career, health, relationships, criminal endeavors, drug experimentation, rehab, blah,blah,blah....) A 3 year hiatus ensued, not much memory of that time period, and then experienced what most near-death survivors would call a "moment of clarity".... Back to earth, somewhat..... 2004. I resumed producing tracks under Mushuto, and have since released 10 tracks through Karma Download, a digital music downloading service, based out of the UK.... July of 2004 I was nominated and won "Artist of the Month" and was described as "a D&B wiz from stateside" from the staff of Karma Download.... Future. I am in the process of completing my first release, and starting a label, based solely from Austin, Texas.... Only time will tell what will happen, but for the most part it's all about keepin' positive....
The Early Years (1997 - 2001): Under the name Mushuto, Jared began producing electronica in 1997. The music from Jared's early years has nearly all been lost. Before glitch and techstep became mainstream, Jared was producing tracks for both genres. This influence lives on in his later works. His original entity of "Mushuto" was divided into the entities "Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor" and "Lysin". None of the music from his early years survives to-date, with exception to the combined tracks of "Lost" and "Liver". All others were lost upon Jared's imprisonment.
Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor - Fluxuati - Lost/Liver: The one surviving track from Jared's early works is not without a story. Jared: "The story behind the track 'Lost/Liver' started 2 weeks after 9/11. It's my take on what I felt the hours I spent in front of the television watching the events unfold. I had started watching the newscast just moments before the second plane was flown into the second tower. Utter disbelief. Shock. Anger. Sadness. Lost. This song is about the waiting, the searching, and the vulgarities of our species. Our total disregard for human life, no matter what our racial background is, we as human are to blame for all traumas that we may endure. Maybe if we were more prone to acceptance of one another, and cared about what the other persons beliefs were, and respect that, maybe, just maybe, we might be a world that could coexist with one another. But, until then, we will still die by the hand of our own.....\end"
The Final Years (2005 - 2007): After years of silence, the name Mushuto resurfaced on the Internet in January of 2005. Following on a near-death-experience Jared described as his "moment of clarity", he turned to music and graphic design production like never before. In his last two-years, the entirety of his surviving works were created: 10 albums, a digital label, collaborations with five artists, consulting on web design and graphics for each musical piece. He created entities to produce thru under different genres, retaining the original three. All-in-all, here, in order of incept, are all the entities Jared Newby produced under:
In July of 2005 (not 2004), KarmaDownload gave Mushuto their Artist of the Month position. Even though Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor contains the bulk of Jared Newby's musical work, it is Mushuto that has always and remains the most popular of his entities. Mushuto remains the name by which most fans and friends know Jared Newby by.
Collaborator: Jared worked quite often with other producers. His earliest known collaboration was with Andrew Shepherd. Shepherd used the alias "Jesus and the Bomb" when working alongside Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor, then used the name "Unknown Groth" when working with Mushuto. This latter collaboration produced a hit track called "Buttercup", although it has not survived in any form since that time. Jared also expressed an interest to work with his brother Jason's music, mixing guitar chords and vocals with electronica synths and beats. Separated by cities and schedules, the collaboration never fully manifested. The project has remained an interest of Jason's, allowing for a future realization of this dream.
Trochlear project Symbis is Jared's most recognizable collaboration. Symbis was the collaborative entity of John Perez and Jared Newby. The two worked together over the course of eight months, producing only six mastered tracks in that time period: "Egypse", "Tecknology (Mushuto Reconstruction)", "Anywhere A.M." (parts 1, 2 and 3) and "Visi0n of Illusion"/"Loudspeaka'". Symbis broke up twice during production, then ended with a third break-up in July of 2006. Shortly afterwards, Perez was imprisoned on unrelated charges. The six tracks he had collaborated on were removed from the project.
Jared collaborated with Trochlear producer San Jaya Prime on several mash and remix projects. The tracks "Frog in a Blender", "Little Depthcharm", "Sacrifice of Form" and "Flex Harder Planet Rock" survive to this day. While the latter two remain unreleased, the former have been retained as a part of the Trochlear catalog.
Jared worked with ATX rapper Ghetto Breeze on his first album, intending to collaborate more fully on the artist's second album. With his failing health, this collaboration never progressed. One of Jared's very last actions was to create the spin-off label Ambitekture Recordings. It was intended to be a space for Trochlear artists to collaborate with artists outside of the label. To get it started, Newby produced two tracks for Ambitekture: "Patiently Decaying" and "Pale". No collaborations were made to follow on these. Following Jared's death, "Ambitekture Recordings" became the entity "Ambitekture". It has been retained as a musical entity for which Trochlear artists can collaborate with others.
Unreleased Tracks: Quite a few tracks were created that were never released for distribution, nor organized into albums. Some of these were made available for previews online, while others were kept within private emails between friends and producers. Each has been retained for possible future distribution.

The Last Tracks: Before his hospitalization in 2007, and shortly after, Jared emailed out samples from new music he had been working on. These were never properly sorted into musical entities, nor were final masters produced. The raw formats survived, however, and can be listened to below:

The Lost Tracks: Many songs produced by Jared have not survived. The tracks from 2001 and before, including even their titles, did not survive his imprisonment. Others were rendered, and even heard by others, but were never released. Some were lost with his first laptop in a breakup, then even more were lost with his last laptop following his death. To-date, the known titles to the lost tracks are as follows:
* Mushuto - "Freezerburn", "With Regards, Leland", "Buttercup" (featuring Unknown Groth), "Epice", "Qi Gong (Balance)", "Hidden Angel", "Murmur", "5 a.m.", "Breakin' Cochlea (For The Bass Bleed)", "I'm Init", "Where Ninjas Dwell", "Overdose"e;, "Perpetual Limitations", "Droppin' Formats"
* Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor - "Biscuiteater", "The Refuge", "And Time Will Tell", "8:10 A.M.", "x D_sign", "x_coni_txt_001", "This Precious Bleed"
* Ambitekture - "Patiently Decaying"
* Also, the 15 untitled tracks from Mushuto's B-sides collection--"The Counter-Productive Sessions"--were never released. Only the album art survive as a reminder of this collection.
Style: Jared Newby primarily was a loop-mixer. He had hardware experience that he lost preference for over time. The hardware he used included a Roland groovebox, vinyl and optical tables as well as Yamaha equipment. When he did opt for hardware, it was primarily to create effects or modify existing samples. The primary piece of hardware in Jared's life was a laptop.
Jared had multiple names for his laptop, a common trend with Trochlear artists. His first laptop after being released from prison was most commonly called "The Device". It was a Compaq Presario. Cheap, but effective. After that laptop was lost, a new Athlon laptop was purchased. Not cheap, but more effective. Due to the increase in performance, he called this one "The Weapon".
The application he preferred to mix with, even since the late 90's, was Sony ACID Pro. He was adept with GoldWave, Fruity Loops Studio, Logic, Sonar and Reason. This knowledge spanned the greater part of the PC mixing software arena, providing many options for making music. Using loops and samples, purchased primarily thru Peace Love Productions and Bunker 8, he spent many late nights and early mornings behind a laptop sequencing and formatting new tracks.
There is no specific style to apply to Jared Newby--not as a whole. Repetitive sequences found with one entity become pure distortion and dissonance with another entity. Proto-electric sounds for one song can as quickly be replaced by sampled instruments in surprising depths and complexity within the next song. Each song, once rendered, was carefully selected for the entity that would represent it. In the end, many can tell which entity created the song that is playing... when, behind the entity, there was only one man.
